School Resource Officer training: Build relationships – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette


“We can create the necessary relationships and make a positive impact on the way police are perceived in the community.”

That’s part of what NASRO region three director Aaron Vanatta told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for an article about the NASRO Basic School Resource Officer Course he taught near Pittsburgh. The article also explained how NASRO trains SROs to provide law-related education and informal counseling, in addition to law enforcement services. It also emphasized the importance of specialized training for school-based police officers.
